Coaches and Camp Directors
Guest coaches are selected from the best available current and retired high school coaches and are chosen based on their high moral character and their outstanding ability to teach basketball skills.
Barry Adams
He retired in 1999 from high school coaching. Coach Adams is one of the outstanding coaches in the history of Oregon prep basketball. His teams won 656 games. He was named 2A Coach of the Year in 1965 and 4A Coach of the Year in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983. His team finished 3rd in the 4A Tournament in 1980, was Runner-up in 1981 and 4th in 1982. His Glencoe High School team won the State Championship in 1983. His 1988 South Salem team finished 3rd and his 1996 team won the Oregon State Championship. Barry is past president of the Oregon High School Coaches Association and was inducted into the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999. Barry is one of three Master Staff at the West Side Academy of Competitive Edge Basketball.
Michael Meek - Girls Basketball Director
Coach Meek began his career at LaGrande High School in 1997 and was there through 2000. He then moved to Southridge High School. In 2003 Meeks’ third year at Southridge. The Skyhawks finished in the Final Four of the State Tournament. Since then they have finished in the Final Four for six consecutive seasons. During that span, Coach Meek has led his team to four consecutive Oregon State Titles in 2005, 2006, 2007 and again in 2008. His 2005 team went 29-0. finishing with a USA Today national ranking of #22. His 2006 team, 27-2, finished with a national ranking of #6. Meek has been honored as 2006 Maxpreps National Coach of the year and 2004-2005 Oregon State Coach of the year. He has also been Named the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association Girls Basketball Coach of the Year three times.
Other Coaches
Our coaching staff that works with Coach Adams and Coach Meek consists of coaches from the Pacific Northwest, many are High School level coaches, but we also select outstanding youth coaches. We have one coach for every 8 campers for the full week camps.
